No funds to pay salaries, Sport dept lapses post for sportspersons: Goan Athlete Desiree Pereira
On the one hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP Government is claiming to promote sports in the country but at the ground level the athletes and sports persons are suffering. Some have won laurels and medals for the state and country, but their efforts are not rewarded with govt jobs. Today in our exclusive story we feature a Goan athlete --Desiree Pereira, who won several medals and brought laurels to the state in shot put and discus. She even won the Bronze in athletics at Lusofonia games. But unfortunately, when she applied for the job as athletics coach under Directorate of Sports and Youth affairs, the post was lapsed. Hence she was forced to take up a job with govt of Haryana where she is presently an athletics coach. Desiree tells her story….
