Story: After the death of her husband, Succorin
(Felcy) brings up her two collegegoing
daughters Joyce (Clency) and
Queencie (Valencia) single-handedly. Her
brother, Salu (comedian Dominic), continuously
warns her of the consequences if
the youngsters don’t learn to shoulder responsibility.
But there’s much to follow
Review: Queencie’s secret affair with Cliff
(Ulhas Tari), the son of a minister (Mario de
Vasco), leaves her pregnant. This revelation
leads to trumoil in the family. As the
family struggles to deal with the situation
and unearth the truth, Cliff steps in.
Queencie confesses to her fiancé about
her pregnancy and expects sympathy. But
he has another solution in mind. Abortion.
Meanwhile, Cliff’s influential father is in a
hurry to settle the matter, before his image
is tarnished in the public. Queencie’s mom
simultaneously fights for justice. What is
the fate of Queencie and the unborn in
her womb? Will she succeed to make her
future? With whom? Who comes to her aid
in moments of difficulty? And finally, who
turns out to be her true lifetime partner?
The tiatr script penned by newcomer Jose
Sequeira is crisp, with several events unfolding
one after another. Noted director
Patrick Dourado has done a fair job in directing
the script. Besides those tense moments,
there are scenes of joy and
amusement that unfurl in between the
acts with comedian Dominic, Luis Bachan
and Sally doling out fine performances. A
female character among them would have
enhanced the comic interludes, which
otherwise stand on their own.
As the understanding mom, Felcy’s role
stands out. Valencia is confident in her
character. Clency shows great scope for a
bright future on the Konkani stage. Ulhas
Vasco are apt in their respective
With regard to songs, there is a galaxy of
singers to entertain with melodious
singing. Besides solos from Marcus Vaz,
Rosario de Benaulim, Succor de Santa
Cruz, Saby de Divar, Tony de Ribandar,
Mario de Vasco and Caziton de Cacora,
you also have duets and trios from
Ave/Felcy, Eddie/Ignatius de Xelvon/Cajetan
de Curtorim and Caziton/Ave/Succor.
Seby Morais and his team provide some
soothing music, while Baltu has handled
the light effects diligently.
‘Mhozo Sangati Tho’ is thoroughly convincing
and if you’re a fan of family drama,
you’ll surely get your money’s worth.
