Goa State Innovation Council trains teachers on innovation

PANJIM:  The Goa State Innovation Council has commenced orientation events and programmes for science teachers from across Goa to train and guide the teachers on innovation, creativity and INSPIRE Awards - MANAK Scheme. 
Nearly 200 teachers from various schools attended and benefitted from the programme and a similar crowd is expected on Friday at Margao.
Soon after the inauguration, the Chairman of the Goa State Innovation Council, Jose Manuel Noronha narrated inspiring stories of Sir Richard Branson and explained the difference between a scientist, inventor and an innovator. 
He referred to Steve Jobs and his views on innovation along with information on various innovative companies such as Zomato.com, Shaadi.com, makemytrip, redBus, Flipkart, BYJU'S, SpaceX, Tesla, etc.
Prof Raghuveer Vernekar, Chairman of GCCI Education Committee, explained five pillars of education - learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, learning to live and learning for transformation. He touched upon the foundation, basic skills and creativity, which make a good teacher in a classroom.
Nagraj Honnekeri, SCERT Director explained to the teachers that Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is a national programme to attract talent amongst students. He urged the teachers to register themselves at www.inspireawards-dst.gov.in.
Gajanan Nagarsekar, Kallows founder, Suwarna Surlekar, Codewell Computers director and expert on Intellectual Property Rights Shalini Menezes, Founder of Sim Sim Law Consultants also spoke. Member of Goa State Innovation Council, D S Prashant said the Council is taking all steps to ensure that genuine and innovative ideas must be protected and leveraged to commercial level. He sought feedback from the teachers and promised to take it to the next level.
