Whether you are a football fan or not, you cannot deny the craze Goans possess for the game. As the team steps onto the field, proudly sporting the team colours, the atmosphere throughout the stadium is vibrant with chants of ‘Forca Goa’ and ‘Go Goa’. These songs continue to gain popularity as they are being shared through social media, uniting not just Goans in Goa but every football lover in the Goan diaspora.  Rozario Estibeiro is the latest to release a song dedicated to the team. “I have kept the music video true to the Goan style with many locals featuring in the four-minute long video. The slogans of ‘Forca Goa Goa’ and ‘FC Goa’ are repeated throughout the song,” says Rozario who directed the song.  The video was conceptualised by Karen D’Mello with lyrics by Cezar D’Mello and the vocal talent of actor Kevin D’Mello. The music for the video was composed by Roque Lazarus with editing by Atmaram Sawant, and Rozario Estibeiro as DoP. “There are shots of young Goans playing football and personalities like Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, Bruno Coutinho, Jonathan Dias, Kevin D’Mello and Marcelin de Betim also make an appearance. FC Goa footballers like Lucio and Romeo Fernandes also feature in the video,” adds Rozario. The video was shot in different locations around Goa and also shows the team practising at Tilak Maidan, Vasco. The music is inspired by typical Kunbi beats.  FC Goa Fan Club Calangute launched the unofficial anthem, a Konkani Audio song titled ‘Goal Maar,’ produced by Shawn Matrins from Calangute. The English song and video ‘Go Go Go FC Goa’ will be released soon. The music and lyrics are written by Benedict Lobo and sung by Croydon D’Souza. The song was produced and recorded by Vivek Philips. “The response to ISL was tremendous this year and we wanted to contribute to the team with a song. We wanted to have slogans which were easy to shout out at the stadium and a catchy song that can be sung by anyone. Joe Ferrao played the bass guitar and Xavier Pacheco played the lead guitar for the song. The response to the song has also been great. The video on Facebook has been shared and viewed many times,” says Shawn.  The official anthem, which is played before and during the match, has also been making waves. Though the anthem can not be changed every year, Varun Carvalho has added a twist to the song with catchy words and a bit of remix. “The two minutes anthem is played before the match and it energises the crowd in the stadium. The lyrics have been written by Hilary Gomes with music by Mukesh Ghatwal and me. The words ‘Forca Goa’ are now synonymous with football in Goa. This year, the craze is bigger and the crowd is even more vocal. I am always on the field with the mascot, singing with the crowd. Carlos Gonsalves and the brass band are on the stands to cheer the team from there. It is a completely different atmosphere on the field,” says Varun.
