The curtain unfolds to narrate a story about two families. In one family, there is Sandra (Clareema Fernandes), a widow who takes care of her son Cedric (Ezekiel Gomes) and daughter Selma (Amy D’Costa). On the other hand, there’s Brenda (Nathania D’Costa) who grows under the guidance of her mother Fiona (Dianne D’Costa) and father Carlito (Agnelo Dias), a civil engineer by profession.
Although poor, Sandra is very supportive and encourages her children to pursue their education. But Carlito is demanding and insists that his only daughter follow his footsteps. But Brenda wishes to be a teacher and would do anything to fulfil her dreams. One of Brenda’s teachers (Swena Vaz) drops in to convince her parents, especially her stubborn father, but to no avail. Due to the pressure of her father, Brenda goes into depression and turns mentally deranged. She behaves as if she’s already a teacher and dictates terms to her father and mother. On the other hand, loss of mother in a mishap leaves Cedric and Selma as orphans.
Will Brenda get out of her depression and achieve her goal? How do Cedric and Selma cope up with the loss of their mother? What initiative does Selma take up to support her brother?
Tiatr ‘Profession’ dwells upon the profession children wish to pick up while pursuing their studies. But quite often, pressure of the parents to live up to their ancestral profession, name and fame, results in dragging their offspring into depression.
All the artistes on stage have given a fine performance. Clareema, Dianne D’Costa and Agnelo Dias as parents have played their characters convincingly well. Ezekiel Gomes, Amy D’Costa, Nathania as children in their respective families have been very supportive. Nathania D’Costa stands out as an emotionally disturbed person.
In the comic acts, Succu (Jade Cruz) and (Perpet) Shaneli Rodriguez formed a perfect pair for some laughter riot on stage. Meeta Raikar as the doctor, Kashish (model) and Reana (tiatrist) extended good support.
In the category of songs, a good number of them in the form of solos, duos, duets, trio, quartet and choral were appealing to the ears as many were rendered in different voices. ‘Goyche Kolakar’ and ‘Konknnicho Mog’ among the solos and the songs ‘Ghumott’, ‘Dotik Lagon’, ‘Gau Rakshak’ were quite interactive, to name a few. Senon and his team provide good live music offstage.
