The King’s School students shine in sports

 The King’s School’s U-17 basketball team emerged State Level U 17, DSYA runners up after going down in a tightly fought contest against Don Bosco’s Panjim earlier this week at Youth Hostel, Miramar.

Previously, the young lads led by their coach and former basketball player Gavin Carvalho had bagged and emerged winners at the District Level DSYA Tournament by beating Shri Mahalaxmi School, Ponda.

Earlier, the school won the Salcete Taluka champions in the U-17 Basketball tournament organised Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA). The team led by captain Zachary Costa beat Holy Rosary High School, Nuvem 36-27 at Fr Agnel’s Ashram, Verna.

The players include Zachary Costa, Jeremiah Pereira, Manoah Shinde, Sainish Fal Dessai, Shaik Arhaam, Andrew Austin, Anmol Saini, Jeremiane Coutinho, Kizito Rodrigues, Noah Velho and Himanshu Tekriwal.

Zachary and Jeremiah recently represented Goa at the basketball nationals.

Along with this, The King’s School young girls bagged the first place in the under 14 Girls DSYA Swimming championship held at Campal Swimming Pool, Panjim, last week. The medal winners include Prachi Lotlikar who won two silver medals in 200 meters individual medley and 200 metres butterfly stroke while Esha Deulkar bagged two bronze medals in 200 metres backstroke and 200 metres butterfly. The school relay team secured the First Place in 4 by 100 metres Freestyle Relay and 4 by 100 metres Medley Relay.

The Relay Team includes Zarah Sayed, Shreemi Kamat, Khushi Shah, Esha Deulkar and Prachi Lotlikar. The girls bagged the overall Championship Trophy for U-14 Girls Category, with their medals tally of 6 medals. They were coached by Hanumant Lohar accompanied by Alvita Pereira.
