Spencer Maybe is a musician, composer, artist, and Burlesque performer from London, UK who has been composing and playing music for over twenty years and has completed four full studio albums. The artiste honed his music skills when he was working on and off as a busker on the London Underground for about 15 years. After having three successful albums to his credit, Spencer Maybe is all set to launch their fourth album, ‘Wait & Patience’ in Goa. The launch will be held at Guru Bar in Anjuna on March 21, 2018, 8 pm onwards. The group had also played earlier this month, at a show held at Firefly Bistro, Benaulim ,as part of the ongoing ‘The Live Music Project ‘concerts.

The album, ‘Wait & Patience’ has mainly been recorded in Goa and mixed in London. To make the album possible, Spencer has collaborated with many musicians from all over the world - each bringing their own special talent to the collective, facilitating a unique sound that has an instant familiarity. Music experts suggest that the album has songs that can make an audience think, dance, and even cry.

The four piece band consists of award winning Swedish guitar master Peter Tegner, highly experienced Moscow session bassist Denis Petukhov, and Mumbai/New York based multi instrumentalist, drummer and producer, Bunny Batliwala, putting on a sensational and emotional must see live show of all original music.

About the band:

Spencer Maybe: He was a Burlesque dancer for five years where he learnt how to engage and entrance an audience. This in turn inspired him to create a one-man comedy, burlesque, mixed media Rock Opera which was based on his second album. He took this to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in both 2010 and 2011, where he received 4/5 star reviews. For the past few years Spencer has continued to write, perform and sing his music at many venues throughout the UK, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Spain.

Peter Tegnér: Tegnér is an award winning guitarist and composer from Malmö, Sweden whose dreamy and cinematic compositions are described by music experts as ‘fairytale music for grownups.’ Tegnér’s fingerpicking style on steel string guitar, blended with his experimental soundscapes on electric guitars, creates a truly unique and mesmeric experience. He has produced several albums, and his last solo album, ‘Creations’ was released in October 2015. He was awarded the Swedish composer prize SKAP-Stipendium in 2016, which is one of the highest honours for a composer in his country. In the fall of 2017, he recorded a new album, ‘Dance Of Garuda’, which will be released in May 2018.

Denis Petukhov: This artiste from Moscow, Russia is one of the most in demand, and acclaimed session, and touring bass players in Moscow, for the last 18 years. Petukhov has toured and recorded with major acts like NAIVE, MASHA & MEDVEDI, TATU, and W.K. Stylistically, he has studied and can play Jazz, Punk, World Music, to Rock, and everything in between. He is known for his exceptional ear, extremely melodic phrasing, and rock solid groove and power. He studied classical piano from the age of seven, and took on bass at 16 years, and plays both upright and electric, and has been playing and recording with the band for the last three years.

Bunny Batliwala: Batliwala is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, producer, and music events programmer who moved to the US at the age of 17. He started on piano when he was three, then guitar and bass at 15, then went on to be a student of World Percussion at Berklee College Of Music under Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon, Sting, David Liebman) since 1998, and from 2000, with Ustad Sultan Khan as his student and international manager. He has spent 15 years as a musician, producer and events programmer in New York City, playing in diverse musical styles including Afro-Beat, Latin, Reggae, Dub, Middle Eastern, World Beat, Rock, Funk and more. He has recorded extensively, including on a ground breaking Arabic and Latin crossover Album “Lemonada” (EMI Records), which made it to the top 10 Middle East charts in 2004.
