Asha Mahal situated at Santismo Waddo at Taliegao is a home which gives hope for the destitute, women and children and those who are lonely and have nobody to look after and feed them. It was established through association for social health in India under Govt. of Goa, Daman & Diu.
On inquiry, it is informed that this property including the main house in the middle which has now been made an office has three big halls and 9 large rooms with bathrooms, toilets and kitchen and is owned by one of the grandsons of Mr. Martinho Martins who seldom visits them.
The capacity of this house is 30 to 50 women. The arch circle wall where the Asha Mahal board is fixed has become very old. But the beautiful looking arch circle wall looks like an old treasure trove for those who can appreciate and valuate antique structure. The department of Social Welfare and the government should help and come forward to help this house by repairing, painting and beautifying it.
