These days, we hear, view and read a lot on the burning issue that is the increasing number of road accidents due to various reasons. The most horrific which is fresh on our mind is the one that took place on Mandovi bridge where the biker was knocked off the bridge.
On March 5 there was a brief article on this very paper titled "Implement 4 E's strategy to prevent accidents...."
In view of same, I am flagging the subject and sharing two pictures connected to the hot spot. Pictures taken are from both directions as marked. This location is very dangerous reason, the approach road towards the bridge from both directions are quite wide but at the bridge points, the width reduces. PWD or traffic cell should conduct immediate inspection and as required have a proper crush barriers installed or raise the height of the sunk retaining walls.
God forbid if any driver or rider loses control, he or she will land up meters down into the barren fields or in river below.
Pictures are self explanatory and calls for an urgent inspection and quick remedy. Also, this very location has a very sharp turn (blind spot) that needs to be looked into.
