The Office of Chief Electrical Engineer would like to clarify the fact with regard to the letter “Electricity pole located in middle of road poses risk to motorists in Ponda” (Citizen Herald, September 28).
Chief Electrical Engineer Rajiv Samant informed that the said RCC pole with HT/LT line has come in between the road as the PWD had widened the road. Later, the PWD authorities applied for shifting of the said pole and payment was done after sanctioning the estimate. The execution work could not be completed due to objection raised by the owner of O Carol Bar, as the HT/LT line and his building clearance would be reduced after shifting.
The matter was reported to PWD, Ponda to settle the objection at several occasions and also the issues had come in the meeting of local MLA and Traffic Cell, Ponda. Accordingly, the Ponda Municipal Council has asked for shifting of the said pole, and the PMC Chief Officer was informed to settle the objection but till date no action was taken by the concerned authorities to resolve the objection.
