As many as 112 tourists from Murbad taluka in Thane district are stranded in Nepal’s Kathmandu and Pokhara cities following violent anti-government protests.

According to Murbad MLA Kisan Kathore, 47 of the tourists are currently sheltered in a hotel in Kathmandu, where the unrest has been most severe, while 65 others are staying in a hotel in Pokhara.

“We have spoken to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Thane district collector regarding the safe return of these 112 tourists,” Kathore said in a statement on Wednesday.

In a video call with the MLA, the stranded tourists described the tense situation on the ground and appealed to the Maharashtra government for urgent evacuation. Many said the escalating violence and uncertainty had left them anxious and fearful for their safety.
