Air India has announced a temporary suspension of select international flight services, including routes to North America, the UK, Europe, the Far East, and Australia, as part of a 15% reduction in wide-body aircraft operations. The move, effective until at least July 15, is aimed at fleet and crew optimisation.
Among the affected routes is the Goa (Mopa)–London (Gatwick) AI145/146 service, which operates thrice weekly. This connection will remain suspended until mid-July, with passengers advised to check with the airline for rebooking or refund options.
The cuts primarily impact flights operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Boeing 777 aircraft, which form the backbone of Air India’s long-haul international network. The airline has not confirmed whether further extensions or adjustments will follow after July 15.
Industry experts suggest the move may be linked to maintenance schedules, crew availability, or fleet realignment as the Tata-owned carrier continues efforts to streamline operations and improve reliability ahead of fleet expansion.
Passengers booked on the affected flights are encouraged to stay updated via Air India’s official channels and reach out to customer service for assistance.
