A cloudburst in Dehradun in the early hours of Tuesday triggered massive destruction, leaving two people missing while damaging houses, shops, and vehicles. The incident, caused by heavy overnight rainfall, forced the evacuation of residents from vulnerable areas.

Rescue and relief operations are underway, with teams from the NDRF, SDRF, PWD, and local authorities deployed on war footing. Bulldozers have been pressed into service to clear debris and restore access to affected areas.

On receiving the alert, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, accompanied by SDM Kumkum Joshi and other officials, visited the site to review the situation. He directed rescue teams to prioritize tracing the two missing persons.

As a precautionary measure, all schools from Classes 1 to 12 in Dehradun have been closed, according to an order issued by the district administration.
