Herald Team

Several parts of the capital witnessed rainfall on Sunday evening, offering much-needed respite from the recent spell of humid weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi-NCR, predicting continued rain and thunderstorms over the next several hours and into Monday.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, a dense cloud mass moving in from the southeast is expected to trigger light to moderate showers, along with thunderstorms and lightning across the region.

The red alert, which is part of the IMD’s colour-coded warning system, urges residents to remain vigilant due to the potential for hazardous weather conditions.

Sunday saw the maximum temperature settle at 38.4°C, while the minimum temperature dropped to 25.1°C — about 2.2°C below the average for this time of year.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid waterlogged areas and take necessary precautions amid the forecast of continued adverse weather.
