DGMO-level talks between India and Pakistan rescheduled for May 12 evening

The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) from India and Pakistan were originally scheduled to hold crucial talks at 12 noon on May 12, but the meeting has been rescheduled to 5 PM the same evening. The talks come in the wake of a recent ceasefire understanding reached on May 10, following several days of heightened military tensions, including drone and missile strikes across the border.

The agenda for the DGMO-level talks will focus on modalities to ensure the longevity of the ceasefire, troop movements, ending hostile air activity, and addressing concerns over cross-border terrorism and infiltration.

The rescheduling follows a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which included key security and defence officials, to review India’s military and diplomatic response after the Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent escalations. India is expected to raise strong concerns over reported ceasefire violations by Pakistan that occurred just hours after the initial agreement, while both sides are set to discuss measures to maintain peace along the Line of Control and the international border.
