Herald Team

Three shop owners were arrested in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area for allegedly manufacturing and selling counterfeit branded jeans, police said on Saturday.

During raids at three locations, the police seized 684 fake jeans, 350 loose Levi's labels, and three sewing machines used in the illegal operation.

The accused have been identified as Sharif (29), Javed (35), and Salman (29).

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma, the action followed a complaint filed on July 30 by a representative of M/s Netrika Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., authorized by brands including Levi Strauss & Co., DKH Retail Ltd. (Superdry), Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Zara.

The complaint alleged that counterfeit jeans bearing the logos and trademarks of these international brands were being produced and sold from properties in Kirari Suleman Nagar and nearby areas.

Raids Uncover Fake Branding Network

Successive raids were carried out by the District Investigation Unit (DIU) at three premises — A-135 Hari Enclave, Munni Wali Gali, and a B-Block property in Kirari Suleman Nagar. The team recovered a significant stock of jeans with fake Levi's branding, loose brand labels, and sewing equipment used to affix them.

All three accused were caught at their respective locations and failed to present valid documentation for the branded goods. Representatives from the concerned brands later confirmed that the seized items were counterfeit.

A case has been registered at the Sultanpuri Police Station under Sections 103 and 104 of the Trade Marks Act. The accused have been arrested, and the seized items sent for further examination.

Police have launched a deeper probe to trace the origins and distribution network behind the counterfeit operation.
