The Telangana Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday arrested Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Secretary Devaraj Ramchander in connection with a high-profile case involving forgery, cheating, and misappropriation of funds.

According to CID officials, Ramchander—who had been absconding—was traced to a hotel in Pune, arrested, and brought back to Hyderabad. He was subsequently produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. He becomes the sixth official to be arrested in the ongoing investigation.

Ramchander is the second accused in the case registered on June 9 against several HCA office-bearers following a complaint by Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy. The FIR includes charges under IPC sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (use of forged document), 403 (dishonest misappropriation), 409 (criminal breach of trust), and 420 read with 34 (cheating and common intent).

Earlier, on July 9, HCA President A. Jagan Mohan Rao, Treasurer C.J. Srinivasa Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, Sri Chakra Cricket Club President G. Kavitha, and General Secretary Rajendra Yadav were also arrested in connection with the case.

The CID alleges that Jagan Mohan Rao, in collusion with Rajendra Yadav and his wife Kavitha, forged documents of Sri Chakra Cricket Club—previously known as Gowlipura Cricket Club—by faking the signature of its President, C. Krishna Yadav. These forged papers were allegedly used to facilitate Rao’s fraudulent appointment as HCA President.

CID officials stated that the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests may follow.
