The sudden death of Microsoft engineer Pratik Pandey, 35, at the company’s Silicon Valley office has shocked the tech community. He checked into work late on August 19 and was found dead early the next morning, according to Bloomberg.
Authorities confirmed no evidence of foul play, while the cause of death remains pending. Microsoft has not released a statement, though colleagues privately described the loss as “deeply painful.”
Pandey built an impressive career across leading tech firms. A graduate of San Jose State University, he worked at Apple and Walmart before joining Microsoft in 2020. Most recently, he was part of the Fabric team within the company’s cloud and AI division.
Beyond his career, Pandey was remembered warmly by friends and family as a soccer enthusiast and “a joyful soul.” His family in India is arranging to bring his body home, with support from the Bay Area community.
