Celebrating National Space Day 2025, PM Modi lauded India’s youth and scientists for turning the nation into a global space power. Under the theme “From Aryabhata to Gaganyaan,” he reflected on India’s moon mission success and recent advances like space docking technology.
To inspire young Indians, Modi announced the creation of an “Astronaut Pool” and celebrated student wins at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics. “The dreams of New India’s youth are limitless,” he said.
He highlighted space tech’s practical applications, from farming to disaster relief, and the rise of over 350 startups thanks to policy reforms. India's first privately built PSLV and communication satellite are in development, and a public-private satellite constellation is planned.
Modi urged the private sector to scale up to 50 launches annually and create five space unicorns in five years. He reaffirmed India’s vision to explore the cosmos beyond Mars, with Gaganyaan and an indigenous space station on the horizon.
