Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dehradun on 11th September 2025 to assess the damage caused by recent cloudbursts, heavy rains, and landslides in Uttarakhand. The visit followed his engagement with visiting Mauritius PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi.
During an official meeting in Dehradun, PM Modi reviewed ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures and announced a financial aid package of ₹1,200 crore to assist the flood-affected state. The package will cover reconstruction of homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin, restoration of national highways, rebuilding of schools, livestock relief kits, and disbursement through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
The Prime Minister expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced ex-gratia payments of ₹2 lakh for next of kin and ₹50,000 for those seriously injured. Children orphaned in the disasters will receive support through the PM CARES Fund for Children.
Central Inter-Ministerial Teams are already assessing the damage, and further assistance will be considered based on their reports. PM Modi also lauded the efforts of the NDRF, SDRF, Army, and State administration in immediate relief operations and assured continued support for the affected population.
