An IndiGo flight from Indore to Raipur (flight 6E-7295), carrying 51 passengers, returned to Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport shortly after takeoff on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, due to a technical issue detected mid-air.
The aircraft departed around 6:35 am and had covered approximately 60 nautical miles when the pilot identified a fault and promptly alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC). As a safety precaution, the flight was diverted back to Indore, where it landed safely. No injuries were reported.
Airport director Vipinkant Seth confirmed that the pilot's decision to return was precautionary. While some initial reports labelled it an "emergency landing," Seth clarified that the return followed standard operating procedures and was not classified as an emergency.
Passengers reported feeling anxious upon learning of the mid-air issue, but crew members maintained calm and handled the situation professionally. IndiGo later cancelled the flight and issued full refunds to all affected travellers.
The airline’s engineering team has begun investigating the cause of the technical fault to ensure such incidents are avoided in the future.
