Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Yash Dayal has been booked in a sexual harassment case following a complaint filed by a woman in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The woman, who claims to have been in a five-year relationship with Dayal, has accused him of sexually exploiting her under the false promise of marriage. The FIR, registered at Indirapuram police station, cites Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual acts obtained through deception—an offence punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a fine.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that Dayal emotionally, mentally, and physically abused her over several years. She claimed the cricketer repeatedly established physical relations with her by promising marriage, introduced her to his family as a future daughter-in-law, and subjected her to financial and psychological trauma. The complaint also mentioned that she suffered depression and made multiple suicide attempts, particularly after learning about Dayal’s involvement with other women.
The woman initially raised the issue through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s online grievance portal on June 21. She later submitted a hand-written complaint to the police, along with evidence including call recordings, text messages, and screenshots.
Police have confirmed that the FIR has been lodged and said statements from both the complainant and Yash Dayal will be recorded during the investigation. Legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of the inquiry. The allegations have cast uncertainty over Dayal’s cricketing future. As of now, the player has not issued a public statement.
