Hyderabad experienced another spell of sudden, intense rain on Thursday evening, triggering severe waterlogging, traffic snarls, and power outages, particularly during the peak evening rush hour.
The downpour caused widespread disruption, bringing the city to a standstill. The IT corridor and its surrounding areas were among the worst hit, with Gachibowli recording a staggering 123.5 mm of rainfall, matched by similar figures at Khajaguda Sports Complex.
Other badly affected areas included Srinagar Colony, Khairatabad, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, Manikonda, and Shaikpet.
Traffic crawled along major routes, as many motorists — especially two-wheeler riders — struggled to wade through waist-deep water. Hyderabad and Cyberabad traffic police remained on high alert, issuing advisories and working to ease gridlock. Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) Disaster Response Force teams were deployed to drain flooded roads, remove fallen trees, and clear snapped power lines.
