India’s air defence received a boost on Sunday as DRDO successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) at 12:30 pm on August 23 off the Odisha coast.
The system integrates indigenous QRSAM, VSHORADS, and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW), offering a robust, multi-layered shield against aerial threats.
Hailing the achievement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the test demonstrated India’s advanced air defence capability and would safeguard critical assets from enemy attacks.
