Authorities rescued a 34-year-old woman from Lucknow who allegedly tried to end her life by driving her car onto railway tracks near Nagulapally Railway Station, Vikarabad police said on Friday.

The woman, identified as Vomika Soni, was later apprehended and taken to a hospital for treatment. According to a statement issued by police, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 26.

Around 4 a.m., Soni left her mobile phone, handbag, and pet Labrador dog at Narsingi Police Station before proceeding to the railway crossing. By 7:04 a.m., she had reached LC Gate No. 22 in Kondakall and drove her car onto the tracks, allegedly intending to die by an oncoming train.

A vigilant gateman spotted the vehicle and quickly alerted railway control and station authorities. Soni reportedly continued driving along the track for nearly seven kilometres before teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police intervened and brought her to safety.

She was initially taken to Chevella Government Hospital and later referred to Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad for further evaluation. Authorities have since shifted her to Yerragadda Mental Hospital for psychiatric care. Her family has been informed about the incident.

Police said a case has been registered under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 153 of the Indian Railway Act. Soni remains under medical supervision at Yerragadda Hospital.
