Ukrainian President Zelensky conveyed his appreciation to the United States for its assistance in a video message, emphasizing his recognition of the significance of the United States. Following a recent disagreement with US President Donald Trump at the White House, Zelensky shared a video message on Monday, expressing his gratitude and highlighting that security guarantees are essential for concluding the conflict. After Trump criticized Zelensky for not adequately expressing thanks for the US support during the war, the Ukrainian leader addressed his fellow citizens in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, affirming their understanding of the United States' importance and their appreciation for the support received.

There has not been a single day when we have not expressed our gratitude. This gratitude is directed towards the safeguarding of our independence; our resilience in Ukraine is fundamentally supported by the actions of our partners, which also contribute to their own security, Zelensky stated in the video. Nevertheless, he reiterated the necessity of security guarantees to conclude the conflict. “What we require is peace, not an unending war. Therefore, we assert that security guarantees are essential,” he remarked. Zelensky emphasized that the nation perceives “clear support” from Europe, along with “increased unity and a greater willingness to collaborate” in the pursuit of ending the war and restoring peace to Ukraine.
