Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, known nationally for hits like Ya Ali, passed away at the age of 52 in a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Garg, who was scheduled to perform at the North East Festival, reportedly fell into the sea while diving and was rescued by Singapore police, but later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The sudden demise of the singer has left fans, the Assamese community, and the Indian music industry in shock. Tributes poured in from political leaders, celebrities, and admirers across the country. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mourned the loss, calling Garg “one of Assam’s favourite sons” and highlighting his unmatched ability to energize people through music.

Zubeen Garg gained national recognition with his soulful track Ya Ali from the film Gangster and delivered other Bollywood hits including Dil Tu Hi Bataa (Krrish 3) and Jaane Kya Chahe Man (Pyaar Ke Side Effects). Beyond Hindi, he recorded songs in Assamese, Bengali, Nepali, and other regional languages, earning a loyal fanbase across India and beyond.
