PANJIM: The State government is awaiting the reports of 49 suspected COVID-19 patients, while reports of 14 others have come negative for the infection.
As per the bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), on Wednesday, 10 new patients were admitted in the isolation ward of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) for suspected coronavirus. With these, the number of patients in GMC has risen to 32.
Of the 64 patients, on whom tests were conducted, 14 reported negative while the results of 49 are awaited.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that 48 samples were sent to Pune two days ago and their report is awaited. “The results of tests conducted at GMC virology lab have come negative,” he said, adding that the facility is fully functional.
Further, on Wednesday 30 passengers were home quarantined, while 12 were placed under facility quarantine.
At present, contact quarantined in North Goa district hospital are three, south district hospital has six, Old Goa Residency has 17, another 47 in Margao Residency, eight in Mayem Residency and two in sub district hospital Chicalim.
The five positive patients, who are recovering, are in the COVID-19 hospital, Margao.
