Agriculture Policy Committee gets four months extension

PANJIM: The State government on Thursday extended the duration of the Committee constituted to work out the Agriculture Policy for the State of Goa, for four more months i.e. upto March 31, 2024. 

MLAs Vijai Sardessai and Premendra Shet and four other new members have been added to the Committee taking its total strength to 28. Earlier, the duration of the Committee constituted in July this year ended on Thursday. 

Director of Agriculture Nevil Alphonso said that the government decided to grant extension to the Committee due to exhaustive work following meetings at all taluka level and village panchayats. The reports of these meetings are being compiled. The sub-committees are also yet to meet. He said that the strength of the Committee was expanded so as to give fair representation to farmers from all the talukas.
