ASSAGAO: Christie Fernandes left his then pristine village of Assagao and the shores of Goa setting sail into the unknown to make a life. He raised his family and especially his daughter who is now UK Home Secretary equivalent to Home Minister

On September 8, Thursday, he filed a criminal complaint that somebody impersonated him and falsely created a power of Attorney.
He stated somebody sold his ancestral land which finally made its way apparently to developers who are constructing a big villa.
Though the SIT has booked unknown persons for allegedly forging documents of land owned by the father of UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman, the form one and fourteen of the said Survey No that is 253/3 and 252/3 have names of two developers who are allegedly undertaking construction on the said property.
It is learnt that the developer is presently developing the land where almost seven bungalows are coming up.
It also learnt from sources that one of the family members allegedly made a Power of Attorney taking the signatures of all the co-owners and allegedly sold it to a person who then sold it to the developer who has undertaken the construction work for the villas.
The SIT has booked unidentified persons who allegedly attempted to grab land belonging to Christie Santano Godfrey Fernandes located at Assagao by forging old documents.
The incident came to light when Christie received intimation from the authorities regarding inventory proceedings. Prime Minister Modi will surely want this case solved as India’s honour is at stake
While the land grab of every Goan is painful and needs to be dealt with an iron hand, this case could lead to a lot of diplomatic embarrassment. India will be hard pressed to respond in a situation where the ancestral property of the UK’s Home Secretary’s father has been grabbed.
The property has been grabbed through impersonation.
The challenge is for the Goa Police to respond immediately and act decisively.
The PMO should instruct the Goa Police and SIT to give daily updates on the investigation and give a time-bound redressal to the complaint.
Though this is a private complaint of a private citizen, the diplomatic ramifications are subtle, yet significant.
