Baby delivered in 108 Ambulance

VALPOI: A 32-year-old woman was delivered of a baby boy in a 108 Ambulance van in Assonora while on the way to North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, on Monday. 

The lady, resident of Velus village in Sattari Taluka, developed labour pain in the early hours, she was brought to Community Health Centre, here, and was later referred to North Goa District Hospital as she was carrying twins in her womb.

While on its way she was delivered by staff nurse of CHC Valpoi Nali Bandekar Sawant, Laxmi Parith and EMT Shritan Kudnekar, 

Staff Nurse Nali Bandekar Sawant said the patient was experiencing extreme pain when she checked her condition in Assonora. She was about to give birth to the baby in a few minutes. Left with no other choice, the staff nurse and other staff assisted the woman in the normal delivery of the baby in the van itself, using the limited facilities available at that time. Later, she was shifted to North Goa District Hospital, where she delivered her next baby.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Health officer Dr Gajanan Naik congratulate staff on this successful delivery.
