PANJIM: The cash-for-jobs scam has rocked Goa, with 29 cases registered and 33 arrests made so far. While the victims and concerned Goans who have been trying to get answers, almost all the accused have been released on bail. Opposition parties have demanded accountability, transparency, and an independent judicial probe, accusing the ruling BJP of corruption and concealment and yet no judicial investigation has been instituted yet.
First Case: Pooja Naik arrested on October 20, 2024 for cheating and duping Ponda resident in giving a govt. job.
New names have surfaced since.
Cases Registered: 29 cases (17 in North Goa, 13 in South Goa).
Arrests:
33 total arrests (20 in South Goa, 13 in North Goa).
2 government servants arrested in South Goa; 1 constable suspended in North Goa.
Victims: 95 complaints filed in this multi-crore scam.
Victims and activists remain frustrated as many accused have secured bail, with no clarity on the true masterminds of the scam.
Pooja Naik granted bail in all cases.
Others like Yogesh Kunkalyekar, Shruti Prabhugaonkar, Vishaya Gawde, and Sonia Achari also out on conditional bail.
Priya Yadav, involved in three cases, remains in judicial custody.
