PANJIM: Tax consultant Dayesh Naik and former chief minister Digambar Kamat’s brother-in-law Gaurish ‘Pinky’ Lawande were quizzed by Crime Branch sleuths in connection with the Louis Berger bribery case on Monday.
The duo was summoned at different times and questioned for nearly three hours at CB office, Ribandar.
CB on Saturday had stumbled upon documents showing properties and assets worth over Rs 100 crore registered in the names of Churchill Alemao, his wife Fatima, son Savio and daughters, from the office of Naik.
CB has called for sale deeds  from 2007-2012 from Margao for scrutiny to establish allegations that Lawande took bribes for land conversions.
Besides seizing papers of a Candolim casino Raffles Square Development Pvt Ltd, Sea Link and Marine Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, the CB attached bank details.
Sources said that Alemao transacted huge amount in his companies, Trust and NGO to avoid coming under the scanner of Income Tax and law-enforcing agencies.
Lawande was also quizzed over allegation that he accepted a bribe of Rs 300 per sq mtr for land conversions from 2007 till the election code of conduct was imposed in 2011. Incidentally, during this tenure, Kamat was chief minister of a Congress-led government.
In a joint raid by CB and Enforcement Directorate last month, the team had confiscated as many as 150 land conversion related files from his office at La Capitol. Some applicants had confessed that he took the bribe to expedite the conversions without any hurdles.
