PANJIM: The Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) has warned the pay parking contractor to refrain from using CCP logo on t-shirts worn by pay parking attendants and not to charge fees at places other than notified as pay parking in its jurisdiction.

In a letter to Sohan Juwarkar, who has been awarded the pay parking contract, the CCP said that the ordinary meeting of the council held on October 19, discussed numerous verbal complaints made to the CCP officials against the pay parking attendants using CCP logo on the t-shirts worn by them when no permission or approval has been given by the CCP.  The contractor has been asked to immediately stop wearing any CCP logo or t-shirts and caps and ID cards bearing the CCP logo as it is causing confusion amongst the general public.

The continued use of the said t-shirt/caps and logos of the CCP will amount to violation of the terms of the contract as there is no specific clause regarding the unauthorised use of CCP logos or name.

It was also brought to the notice of the CCP that pay parking fees are being collected from areas outside the designated zones with threats and abuses involved and taking photographs of citizens, who object to the same.

In the letter to the contractor, CCP Commissioner Agnelo A J Fernandes stated that since most of the pay parking personnel are rude and arrogant in nature and have no basic knowledge of Konkani, they are to be either replaced or trained accordingly. The CCP will not be responsible for any act of the general public which may be detrimental to the bidder of the pay parking contract.
