MARGAO: Colva police on Thursday registered a case against five persons for forming unlawful assembly and assaulting one person with glass bottles and another with fist blows causing injuries in a restaurant at Benaulim.
One of them also outraged the modesty of a 19-year-old girl, who tried to rescue her boyfriend.
Police said that as per complaint lodged by the 19-year-old girl from Benaulim, Deepak Valiker and Viju Naik, residents of Gogal Housing Board; Sankesh Nishad of Borda-Margao, Akash Atwekar of Gogal-Margao and Rohit Faldessai of Balli with their common intention formed unlawful Assembly and assaulted Maxwell Fernandes with glass bottle on his head in a restaurant at Benaulim causing injuries and also assaulted Larsen Fernandes with fist blows causing minor injuries.
According to the complainant, Nishad tore her dress by pulling it thereby outraging her modesty. He also told her that he will make her naked in a restaurant thereby insulting the modesty of a woman.
“The accused person also threatened her,” said police.
In this connection, the police have registered an offence under Section 143, 147, 323, 324, 506, 354 B and 509 read with 149 of IPC. Assistant Sub Inspector Eliza Fernandes is conducting further investigation.
