PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee will organise series of functions across the State, to mark the 75 years of India’s Independence.
The programmes will be organised as part of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) decision to hold year-long celebrations to commemorate 75th year of Independence.
Both the District Congress Committees will organise programmes on Saturday (August 14) in their respective district offices at Mapusa and Margao, at 11 am, wherein freedom fighters will be felicitated.
The All Block Congress Committees will organise Prabhat Pheris (processions) on August 15, in the respective blocks followed by flag hoisting.
In order to plan and implement the year-long celebrations, the GPCC has constituted a State-Level Celebrations Committee under chairmanship of its Vice-President Vithoba Dessai and Dr Pramod Salgaocar, Pradip Naik, Dharma Chodankar, Subhash Phaldessai, Altinho Gomes, Janardhan Bhandhari, Shankar Kirlapalkar, Varad Mardolkar, Vishwanath Harlankar, Narayan Redkar, Royola Fernandes and Gurudas Natekar are its members.
The North Goa District Congress Committee has constituted a celebrations committee with Vijay Bhike as its president and Pratap Gauns, Chandan Mandrekar Rudolph Fernandes, Virendra Shirodkar, Bholanath Ghadi , Nazir Beig, Sachin Parab, Domnic Fernandes and Roma Fernandes as members.
Similarly, the South Goa District Congress Committee has also constituted a celebrations committee with Joe Dias as its chairman and Avinash Shirodkar, Deepak Kharangate, Yeaman D’Souza, Peter Gomes, Shivani Pagi, Ali Shaikh, Floriano Colaco, John Pereira and Sidhartha Naik as members.
GPCC General Secretary Pradip Naik will coordinate the programmes in South Goa District while Vice President Gurudas Natekar will coordinate the programmes in the North Goa District, states a press release by Vice President M K Shaikh.
