MARGAO: While it is quite common to see tiatrists taking jibes at and exposing various gaffes of politicians and ministers on the stage, tiatr lovers will now get to see one of Goa’s Ministers acting in a tiatr.

Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude will play the role of a police

inspector in his debut tiatr named ‘Chor’, written by well-known

tiatrist ‘Comedy king’ Agostinho and directed by young comedian Joyel, which will be

released on Easter

Sunday.

Gaude already enjoys a strong theatre background, and is well-known for acting in ‘Nattak’. Speaking to OHeraldo, Gaude expressed happiness about his first foray into tiatr and said he was eagerly waiting to perform for the patrons on Easter Sunday.

“Yes, I have been crazy for tiatr since my childhood. Now, I have got an opportunity to perform in tiatr and that too in a tiatr written by well-known director Agostinho,” said Gaude. He added  that he will make time for these shows despite his busy schedule.

Speaking to OHeraldo from the UK, tiatr-writer comedian Agostinho, said that it was a thing of pride for him and his troupe, that Gaude has agreed to act in ‘Chor’.

“Actually, at a function organised by Tiatr Academy of Goa, Minister Gaude had himself once expressed his desire to act in tiatr. Our troupe member and artist Pradeep Naik informed me about this wish,” said Agostinho.

He said that tiatr lovers will get an opportunity to see Gaude's acting. The director of the tiatr, Joyel, said that the role of the police inspector has been specially written to suit Gaude.

“I was very happy when comedian Agostinho informed me about Gaude’s foray into tiatr. My co-artists and I are eagerly waiting to see his acting,” said Joyel.

He also said that Gaude will be seen in the tiatr as per his availability, and that his role will be played by another actor in case he is busy with his Ministerial duties. Joyel said that Gaude, Pradeep Naik (actor) and writer Agostinho were in talks for a while before finalizing the Minister’s debut role.
