MARGAO: Dengue has raised its ugly head in the Margao ESI hospital staff quarters again. An inmate in the staff quarters was affected by dengue three days ago, prompting ESI medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai to write to the Health Centre to carry out fogging operations.
Sources in the know said a relative of a hospital staffer putting up in the quarter was affected by dengue. When contacted, ESI medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai said that he has written to the Health officials to undertake fogging of the quarters as well as the hospital premises as a matter of precaution. “We cannot say whether it is a confirmed case of dengue or not, but I have written a letter to the health authorities to carry out the fogging in and around the hospital area,” he said.
Two confirmed cases of dengue were reported in the ESI hospital last year, both staff members hailing from Navelim.
