PANJIM: Giving further boost to the e-learning in colleges for the current academic year 2020-21, the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) is all set to launch its own YouTube channel “DISHTAVO” on October 5, wherein the students will be able to view recorded lectures.
DISHTAVO -- Digital Integrated System for Holistic Teaching And Virtual Orientations, is a first of its kind, entirely in-house project, where several hundred teachers from colleges across Goa have participated in recording lectures in all disciplines and degree programmes including BA, BSc, BCom, Music, Home Science, etc.
“DISHTAVO is a comprehensive and holistic programme to create online e-content in the form of video lectures of syllabus pertaining to the colleges affiliated to the Goa University,” DHE said in a press statement issued.
Though the online-class have resumed across all colleges in the State, the poor network connectivity has proven to be major hindrance in the e-learning process.
“The project aims to provide students, access to the academic content 24 hours a day,” DoE said.
Throughout the entire academic year, 10,000 lectures will be uploaded for students’ benefit. Each video will be of 10-12 minutes only, in keeping with the Swayam guidelines that take into consideration the attention of students.
Given a large number of degree programmes and disciplines in the colleges, seven recording studios are setup in Goa University campus, with a technical team comprising of expertise from within the colleges and university.
In order to make these video lectures of very high quality, DISHTAVO has adopted Swayam for MOOCS standard, providing best learning experience to the students.
“Initiatives like this are a step towards making Goa an education hub,” DHE said.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will launch the YouTube channel on Monday, next week.
