Feedback sought from people over luxury eco-resort at Ela, Old Goa

PANJIM: The State government has proposed to declare 10,356 square metres area at Ela, Old Goa, as investment promotion area for the purpose of setting up a luxury eco-resort.

In view of the proposal, the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (IPB) has requested all persons, having any objections to the proposal, to submit the same in writing with reasons thereof to the Director of Industries Trade and Commerce, Government of Goa, Panjim, within a period of one month.

Earlier, the Goa IPB had granted in-principle approval to Laterite Resorts to set up a luxury eco-resort in the area at Ela, Old Goa.

While 5,825 square metres out of the area falls under the settlement zone, 4,531.66 square metres is natural cover.

In the past, the High Court of Bombay at Goa had issued notices to the State government and two eco resort projects approved by the IPB at Vanximin Tiswadi taluka and at Netravali in Sanguem taluka.
