VASCO: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, will inaugurate India’s first curved cable-stayed bridge in Mormugao at 6 pm on Tuesday. Ahead of the opening, local MLA Sankalp Amonkar, accompanied by PWD engineers, conducted a joint inspection of the bridge.
The Union Minister will also inaugurate Loop 2 of Port Connectivity on National Highway 566. The event will be attended by Union Minister for Ports and Shipping Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik, and other dignitaries.
According to Amonkar, the Mormugao loop flyover bridge is a landmark project. "Heavy cargo traffic will now use this bridge, thereby reducing dust pollution on internal roads by almost 60 per cent," he stated.
“This bridge is a game-changer for the state and especially for Mormugao Taluka. It will significantly reduce the dust pollution faced by residents of Sada and surrounding areas due to heavy cargo transportation. These vehicles will now use the bridge, bringing much-needed relief to the community.
