According to Pernem police, a Volvo bus that was proceeding to Pune, while overtaking another vehicle, rammed against a petroleum tanker at Tamboxem, at 7.30 in the morning.
The driver of tanker Maganlal suffered minor injuries on face, while his cleaner Virendra Kumar, 23, suffered fractures on both his legs. The cleaner of the Volvo bus Banally Gujjar, 32, suffered fracture to his left leg. Besides, two passengers of the Volvo bus Sushant Thakur, 30, a resident of Banda and Dhananjay Kerkar, 52, a resident of Pune also suffered minor injuries.
The tanker driver, his cleaner, and the bus cleaner have been admitted to the Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, while the two passengers were discharged after first aid at a local clinic.
Police said that the driver of Volvo bus Kanahyalal Gujjar fled from spot after the accident.
The fire personnel rescued the passengers trapped in the bus and saved their life. The rescue team included P N Mandrekar, R A Gawas, V D Gaonkar, Lakshadeep Harmalkar, Vishant Vaigankar and Vithal Parab.
