MARGAO: Former Minister and the Congress candidate for Navelim, Avertano Furtado has given 24 hours time to his rival Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Pratima Coutinho, to publicly apologise for spreading false information about him or else he will file a defamation case against her.
Avertano reacted sharply to Coutinho alleging that there was a secret arrangement, allegedly between him and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) where he would join the saffron party post elections and be made the Sports Minister in the next State BJP government. Furtado also said he is sure Coutinho was behind the fake news alert, which falsely claimed that he had met BJP’s national leader and Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent visit to Goa. Furtado denied all speculation of him having any links with the BJP.
