The stage is set for the much-awaited 5th All Goa Inter-Collegiate/HSS Tiatr Com petition 2025-26, organised by the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem. The competition, which will showcase the creativity and tal ent of Goa’s youth in the field of tiatr, will be held daily at 3:30 pm starting from September 13 at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem.
The event will feature a strong line-up of colleges from across Goa, with each institution pre senting their tiatr productions. The competition opens on September 13, with Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Sci ence, Margao, staging ‘Thapttak Thapott’, written and directed by William Fernandes. The momentum continues on September 15 with ‘Purple’ by St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, written by Dr. Fr. Luis Gomes. On September 16, Don Bosco Col lege, Panaji, will present ‘Gun nyav Konacho?’ under the direc tion of Purushottam Mardolkar and Alvyn Abranches. Further, DCT’s Srinivassa Si nai Dempo College (Cujira) will stage ‘Kaido Tumcho- Faido Amcho’ directed by Antonet De Sousa on September 17. On September 18, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, will showcase ‘Circus’, written by Fr. Roman Rodrigues and directed by Gautam Gaude.
The festival proceeds with Carmel College for Women, Nu vem, presenting ‘Dennem’ under Fr. Doel Dias on September 19, and culminates on September 20 with ‘Dovornnem’, staged by Kala Academy Goa’s College of Theatre Arts, Panaji, written by Agnelo Borim and directed by Vishnupad Barve. Speaking ahead of the compe tition, Anthony Barbosa, Pres ident of TAG, appealed to tiatr lovers across Goa to support the initiative wholeheartedly. “We urge the people of Goa to come in large numbers, watch the shows, and encourage our bud ding artists who represent the future of Konkani tiatr,” Barbosa said.
The competition aims not only to highlight the rich tradi tion of tiatr but also to nurture the next generation of writers, directors, and actors who will carry this Goan cultural herit age forward.
