A murder case has been registered at the Mormugao Police Station following the death of Rajesh Majhe, a Bihar native, after a violent altercation in Baina, Goa. The incident took place on May 25, 2025, when Rahul Kumar Saini, also from Bihar and residing in Baina, allegedly attacked Majhe with a wooden stick during a fight inside a rented room.
Majhe sustained serious head injuries in the assault and was immediately rushed to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for treatment. Despite efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries, prompting police to escalate the case from assault to murder.
Initially, Saini was arrested under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and remanded to four days of police custody. After Majhe’s death, police added Section 103 (murder) under the BNS and officially converted the case into a murder investigation.
The accused was subsequently produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and has been remanded to an additional four days of custody as the investigation progresses.
