Goa Police arrested Akshay Vashisht, a Delhi-based vlogger, for allegedly spreading fear by uploading a misleading video titled “Goa Ka Haunted Airport” about Manohar Interna tional Airport, Mopa.
The video, posted on the Facebook page Real Talk Clips, contained false and superstitious claims intended to create public alarm and boost the channel’s reach. The arrest followed a com plaint by Police Constable Suraj Shirodkar from the Social Media Monitoring Cell, Police Headquar ters, Panjim. Using technical sur veillance and intelligence, police traced Vashisht to Dwarka, Delhi. A team from Mopa Airport Police Station, led by PSI Viraj Sawant, arrested him and brought him to Goa for questioning. The opera tion was overseen by Inspector Narayan Chimulkar, SDPO Pernem Shaikh Salim, and SP North Goa Rahul Gupta, IPS.
However, in a dramatic late night ruling at 11:11 PM, Judi cial Magistrate First Class Shab nam Nagvekar granted Vashisht bail. The magistrate criticised police for not following due process, highlighting their fail ure to serve the mandatory pri or notice before arrest, which violated his legal rights. Rep resented by Advocates Ankur Kumar and Meghna Nimbekar, Vashisht secured bail amid on going investigations. Authori ties remain vigilant to curb any attempts to spread fear or mis information about critical state infrastructure.
