In a swift operation, Calangute police arrested five men from Tamil Nadu for allegedly assaulting two individuals near Taj Fort Aguada in an attempted robbery incident.
The accused — Shakir Nasar (25), Shaka Vil Mutthu (28), Kumar Sampad (29), Tamil Selval (22), and S. Sudakar (42) — reportedly tried to snatch fishing equipment from the victims. When the victims resisted, the group allegedly attacked them, with one being injured by a knife and the other by scissors.
The police acted promptly based on a complaint filed at the Calangute Police Station and managed to apprehend all five accused. A case of assault and attempted robbery has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities are also probing whether the accused were involved in similar incidents in the area.
