The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, led by Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão and Auxiliary Bishop Simião Fernandes, has extended prayerful wishes and heartfelt devotion to Pope Leo XIV, as he begins his ministry as the Successor of the Apostle Peter and spiritual leader of the Universal Catholic Church.

In a collective statement, the archdiocese joined millions of faithful around the world in expressing solidarity and filial support for the newly elected Holy Father. Reflecting on Pope Leo XIV’s inaugural message of peace, dialogue, and fearless love, the local Church pledged its obedience and spiritual backing to the new pontiff.

“We pray with the whole Church,” the message read. “May the Lord God, Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful, look favorably on His servant Pope Leo XIV whom He has set at the head of his Church as Her shepherd and grant, that by word and example, he may be of service to those over whom he presides. Amen.”

The clergy and faithful of Goa and Daman, with their deep-rooted Catholic heritage, have long maintained strong ties with the Holy See, and the expression of unity with the newly elected Pope reinforces their continued commitment to the mission of the Church.
