The Goa Congress has raised serious allegations of manipulation within the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), specifically concerning the allocation of medical seats. Former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President, Girish Chodankar, brought the issue to light via a detailed post on social media.
Key Allegations Raised
Pressure on Local Students: The Congress alleges that Goan students are being pressured into opting for seats under the All India Quota, rather than their rightful State Quota placements.
Preferential Treatment for VVIPs: This reported coercion is allegedly being used to make room for the children of very important persons (VVIPs) to secure admission under the State Quota.
Unethical Practices: There are further claims that students are being influenced through unfair means, including offers of monetary incentives, to alter their admission preferences.
The party has called for an impartial and transparent investigation into the alleged irregularities to protect the rights of Goan students. It has also publicly questioned whether Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the state’s Education Minister will respond to these serious concerns.
Stressing the need for immediate intervention, the Congress urged the government to prevent further malpractice and ensure that the medical admissions process is fair, transparent, and free from political interference.
The Goa Congress maintains that the people of Goa deserve a just and equitable system for medical admissions. The party has demanded swift and decisive action to uphold the integrity of the process and restore public trust in the state’s educational institutions.
