Goa government rolls out Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana

Herald Team

The Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana, notified by the Goa government on August 7, 2025, marks a significant stride toward women’s empowerment and digital inclusion. This scheme acknowledges the existing digital divide that disproportionately affects women, particularly those in rural and underprivileged communities, and seeks to equip them with essential digital skills.

The primary objective of the Yojana is to promote digital literacy among women, enabling them to access and leverage a range of online services such as e-governance, digital payments, telemedicine, and online education. By doing so, the government aims to improve women’s participation in the digital economy and knowledge society, enhancing their personal and professional opportunities.

The scheme is designed for accessibility and inclusivity. Training is delivered through a wide network of empanelled IT Knowledge Centres, Citizens Service Centres (CSCs), and CSC–Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). This ensures that even women in remote or tribal locations can easily join the program. The curriculum focuses on practical skills—including the use of smartphones, navigating the internet safely, understanding cyber hygiene, and engaging with key online government and financial services. Tailored modules are available to accommodate different levels of literacy and familiarity with technology.
